The company was founded on the 4th of January 2009 with the main objective to achieve the aim, which Egypt and Saudi Arabia have set for the advancement of maritime transport services between their Red Sea ports through managing and operating the two HSCs "ALKAHERA" and "ALRIYADH", with increased safety standards on these maritime lines.

The company is owned by The Four Egyptian Port Authorities as the share holders in equal shares.
