Centaur is a wooden Thames sailing barge, built in Harwich, Essex in 1895. She was then used to carry various cargoes mainly grain until 1955, when she was derigged. Between 1955 and 1966, derigged and was used as a lighter. She was bought in 1966 by Richard Duke to rerig as a charterbarge then sold in 1974 to the Thames Barge Sailing Club - now the Thames Sailing Barge Trust for members sailing. She was restored in 1984-93. She sails out of The Hythe, Maldon.
